Lots of Kites

Hello! I decided to join the challenge on the CARDS blog this week and make a card with kites. I love the Up, Up and Away stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I also love this little girl from the Hero Arts set called You're the Best. I combined them to make this card:

I colored the little girl with Copics and used distress ink on the hill she's standing on. I used the cloud die cut from Papertrey. Love that die!  I also used my craft knife to cut the little girl's hand so I could thread the twine through so she looks like she is holding the kite string.  Anyway, I thought this could also be used for the Card Style Fun and Cute Challenge on the Moxie Fab World blog. Once again, I purposely left off the sentiment because I'm not sure what I will use this card for yet.  Hope you're having a great week. Almost time for the weekend!

Hey Dude!

I made this card for my nephew's birthday in August. He'll be 12. I thought this card might be appropriate (and fun) since he loves to play Guitar Hero.  :)   I'm loving my new sentiment stamps from PaperTrey Ink. I used some Basic Grey paper for the background and the Star stamp and notecard are from Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by. Your comments always make my day!

Shower wishes...

My youngest sister, Jenn, is getting married this year! Yippeee!  We are all thrilled to death!  Anyway, her shower is coming up soon and I made this card for her. I wanted the dress to stand out, so I used a black polka dot paper from Me and My Big Ideas for the background. I had to throw in some hot pink though to spice it up a bit. :)  I added glitter to the ribbon on the dress and pearls to the neckline.  Also the pearl in the center of the white flower is a pink heart. This card looks so much better in real life. Stop by my house if you want to see the real thing. teehee... :)

Hope your week is going great!

Do you like bookmarks?

I created this bookmark the other day. I love this Long Stem Flowers stamp from Hero Arts. I colored it with Copics. It's hard to tell, but I also added Glossy Accents to the flowers. I used TH distress inks for the grass and sky and then I adhered the white cardstock to some Basic Grey pink paper. My Mom loves to read so I made this for her.

Hope you're having a great week!

Special...

Hello! Just a quick post for today. I made this card for my sweet niece, Megan. I don't get to see her very often (she lives a few hours from us) so I like to send her a card every now and again to let her know how much she means to me.

I used Papertrey Ink's cloud die cuts (distressed with TH inks) and their balloon stamp (colored with Copics). I just LOVE the clouds and balloons from Papertrey. And I used a sentiment from Hero Arts. I put it on 2 lines instead of 1. I didn't cut the clear stamp though, I just inked each part. I dont' know why, but I still haven't been able to bring myself to cut any of my clear stamps.  :)  I also used an EK Success border punch and then used TH distress ink to give the grassy "hills" some dimension.

Hope you have a great weeked. Yippee, it's Friday!!  Thanks for dropping by!

Happy Birthday to my Nephew!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  I used the Hero Arts "Oceans of Joy" stamp set to create this card for my nephew, Seth. Today he is 7 years old! I can't believe he is 7 already. Seth is such a sweet kid and gentleman. He always holds the door open for me.  :)  He has such a tender heart and is a special little guy. Oh, and he's awesome at Wii bowling!  heehee.. Happy Birthday Seth!

It's hard to tell in this pic, but I clear embossed the HA Flourish stamp for the background. I colored in the fish with Copics and added Glossy Accents to them too. I used the EK Success border punch to make it look like bubbles in the water at the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you're all having a great week!

Hero Arts July Challenge

I made this card for the Hero Arts July challenge. I won this Travel Journal stamp set from my sweet friend, Virginia. She gave it away as blog candy. She's such a nice lady!  Anyway, when I think of traveling, I always think of palm trees. They're my favorite so I had to add one to my card.  I used distress inks on the palm tree and Copic markers on the owl. I also used Basic Grey grid paper.

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for leaving such sweet comments. Hope you're having a crafty weekend that includes lots of stamping time.  :)

Do you like Green?

I've been playing with distress inks again and two of the new stamps I won from Hero Arts...and this is what I created. Wasn't sure what background card color to use for this, so I went with green. The piece of kraft paper was stamped with the HA Design Block stamp called Large Canvas Stripes. It makes it easy to make your own patterned/striped paper. I finished it off with some twine, a HA flower and button.

Thanks for dropping by. Hope you're having a great week! It's almost Friday!  :)

Big Flower Lift

Happy 4th to all my American friends! I know I'm a day late, but I was busy yesterday at a cookout to celebrate. The fireworks were fantastic, the food was great and it was a good time. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend.

Does this card look familiar? I lifted Shari Carroll's design. She made something very similar in the bookmaking technique video she did last week. I used the same colors. I used the Friendship stamp for the background instead of the houses stamp she used. Also, I stamped the flower directly on blue Bazzill Dotted Swiss paper (hard to see the dots in this pic) instead of inking the flower. I did color in the center outline with a Copic marker and added Glossy Accents. I'm going to send this to a good friend of mine for her birthday next week. Hopefully she'll like it. I love the new Basic Grey Basics Manila paper. It matches so well with the Hero Arts notecards.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week! The good news is since today was a holiday, I only have to work 4 days this week.  Gotta love that! :-)

Garden Bouquet - take 2

I'm still playing with stamping techniques and distress inks (using my Hero Arts Garden Bouquet stamp). I wanted this image to have more of a watercolor effect rather than a crisp image. This card looks much better in real life. Sorry you all don't live closer and can't come to my house to see it.  :)  I also used the Tim Holtz/Ranger distresser tool on the edges of the white cardstock. Love that tool!  Happy weekend!  Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
