Color Layering

After watching the color layering technique video on the Hero Arts blog, I decide to try it out. This is what I came up with. I used distress inks for the Garden Bouquet stamp and also used the Friend definition stamp. I paired it with lace and some Basic Grey paper, added a butterfly with pearls and called it done.

Happy New Year!!  I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year's Eve and wish you many blessings in 2011!  I've been playing with a new Hero Arts stamp set in the last few days and here are a couple of cards I created.  I submitted this first card for the Hero Arts December contest.

The second card I just made yesterday. I love this new Wish You Were Here stamp set. I also used the Fiskars Notebook border punch which was another Christmas gift I received. Love it!

Cardvaarks CAS Challenge

I made this card for the Caardvarks Clean and Simple challenge. They teamed up with Hero Arts, one of my favorite stamp companies for this challenge. Yea! I used the Hero Arts Hanging Christmas Ornaments stamp on this card. My sweet online friend Tiffany sent me this stamp and I had to ink it up and try it out. I colored the ornaments with Copic markers and added Glossy Accents to the yellow ornaments and the dots on the big red ornament. It's hard to tell in this photo though.

Hello! and a Back to School Layout

Hello! I had a little time for stamping this weekend so I decided to create a layout and a card for the Hero Arts challenge this month. I created this layout of my niece and nephew. They just started school last week. I used the Simply the Best stamp set to stamp the apples, colored them with copics, added Glossy Accents and cut them out for embellishments. I also used the "Rember this" circle stamp from the Travel set (blog candy from my sweet friend Virginia) and added a title. I used the Hero Hues paper (orange) for the first time. I ran it through my CB with a die cut and it cuts like butter. :)  The row of apples is actually ribbon from TPC Studio to match the paper. Cute! Sorry about the wonky pic. I didn't have much light to work with so I had to place the layout on the seat of a folding chair. :)  My niece, Hannah, loves to hold up the peace sign in all her photos now. Cracks me up.

On to the card now. I love the Silly scape stamp, but boy is it a lot of work to color like this! :)  I used the Hero Hues paper to make this notecard. I used TH distress inks to make the sky look more sunny at the top. I also used tumbled glass to ink around the clouds and I added some Glossy Accents on the balloon. The clouds are die cuts and the balloon is a stamp I colored with Copics - they're both from PaperTrey Ink. I used the Hello! greeting from one of my older HA stamp sets - the 2x3 Home set.

BoBunny leftovers...

Do you love Vellum?

I finally tried stamping and embossing on vellum. I've been wanting to try this for awhile, but haven't had the time. I love the Hero Arts big flower stamp. It looks great on vellum. I added pink for the background to make the flower pop!  Sorry for the bad photo. I didn't have much natural light when I took the pic.

It's Thursday already. Hope you're all having a great week! I'm ready for the weekend, but then again, I always am. :)

Garden Bouquet - take 2

I'm still playing with stamping techniques and distress inks (using my Hero Arts Garden Bouquet stamp). I wanted this image to have more of a watercolor effect rather than a crisp image. This card looks much better in real life. Sorry you all don't live closer and can't come to my house to see it.  :)  I also used the Tim Holtz/Ranger distresser tool on the edges of the white cardstock. Love that tool!  Happy weekend!  Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

I love Palm Trees...

I love palm trees and I love this Hero Arts new stamp set called Let's Chill. I created this card for the Hero Arts June challenge on their blog. I added some highlights to the coconuts with a white ink pen. I also used Basic Grey paper...again! and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the dotted background. I also added HA gems to the flip flops. :)  I thought the Palm tree was big enough and cute enough to be the focal point of the card. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate all of your kind comments!

New Stamps - Flowers and more flowers....

I was given some "oh so pretty" Hero Arts stamps for my birthday this month. Thank you to my sweet in-laws! Once I received these in the mail, I just had to ink them up and get to making cards!  Here's what I came up with. I used the wood block Flower Medley stamp with Zing embossing powder for this first card. Then I colored in the flowers with Copic markers.

And for this card, I used the wood block Dogwood stamp.  I stamped and colored with Copic markers and then cut the flowers out and pop-dotted them to add some dimension to the card. I purposely left the sentiments off of these cards so I can use them for whatever comes up (birthday, thank you, cards for friends, etc.)

Bold Flowers....

I created this card for the February Hero Arts challenge on their blog.  I stamped the antique brocade using the pool shadow ink on pool paper for a very subtle background. I also used Glossy Accents on circles in the flower to give it a bit of shine in spots. Thanks for dropping by.

New Hero Arts Stamps!

I went to Archivers today and this is what I came home with. It was the big release of the new Hero Arts stamps. Yippee! I just had to buy some. I would have liked to buy more, but Christmas time is a time to buy for others. :)
